Effective immediately, Tasman Motorsport has undergone a total restructure of its management team with former Managing Director, Kevin Murphy, stepping aside to make way for new team boss Jeff Grech.
Murphy, father to experienced V8 Supercar driver Greg, will continue to assist Grech in his new role however he has decided to devote more of his time to building up the Greg Murphy Racing team which participates in the Fujitsu V8 series and Porsche Carrera Cup.
“For the future development of both Tasman Motorsport and Greg Murphy Racing, the timing was right to step aside,” Murphy said.
Grech has many years of experience within the V8 Supercar category, having been General Manager of the Holden Racing Team and a director of TWR Australia. An impressive haul of titles can be accredited to him, including leading HRT and K-Mart Racing to six championship wins and six Bathurst victories.
Kevin Murphy was unconditionally supportive of his successor, stating that, “Jeff’s record in V8 Supercars is unsurpassed and he is the right person for us to take the next step forward.”
Jeff Grech is looking forward to his new role as Managing Director.
“In its short history, Tasman Motorsport has built an enviable reputation. It has all the ingredients to become one of the sport’s premier teams – a strong engineering base, two very good drivers and great staff – and I am looking forward to the challenge,” Grech said.
