Holden proves dominance at AGP

This weekend’s V8 Supercars Manufacturers Challenge ended on a high note for Holden fans everywhere after Toll HRT’s Garth Tander led the Red corner to victory, taking out all three races and amassing a maximum 300 points for the team.
Total points for the weekend of racing saw Holden thrash Ford, finishing the competition on 2012 points, leaving Ford wondering what had happened after they scored just 1568 points in reply.
Ford drivers seemed to have a problem understanding the rules, with a number of instances of Falcons taking each other out of the race, allowing Holden to dominate completely. The most memorable of these dubious driving incidences was in race three when contact between Team Vodafone’s Jamie Whincup and FPR’s Mark Winterbottom saw both drivers unable to finish the race.
Second in points for the weekend was Jim Beam Racing’s Will Davison, showing that last weekend’s round win for the team was not a fluke and he is one driver to take seriously this season.
Third place went to HSV driver Rick Kelly. “It was exciting for us to embrace the concept and have a go and to see how the other drivers reacted,” he said. “We reacted to the challenge very well and the Ford drivers just fought it out.”
Kelly believed Davison was the only Ford driver “with his head on his shoulders”.
“Maybe he should be in a Holden,” Kelly finished.
