V8 Supercars - no more sweat, just the sweet smell of … um … Men.

V8 Supercars Australia has picked up an important new supporter for the remainder of the 2007 championship series with well-known deodorant brand Rexona Men coming on board as the official sponsor.
“V8 Supercars Australia is very pleased to welcome the Rexona brand on board as the official deodorant sponsor of the 2007 V8 Supercar Championship Series, as well as a major sponsor of the 2007 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Falken Tasmania Challenge and Dunlop Grand Finale,” said Tony Cochrane, Chairman of V8 Supercars Australia.
"The strength and growth of our brand in recent years, coupled with the shift in demographic to a far broader audience, means that we are very pleased to be working with great global companies such as Unilever with their Rexona brand – where they can readily appreciate the inherent value in reaching our support base.
"We are very excited to be a major part of Unilever’s plans to launch and promote its new Rexona Men Power deodorant range. We look forward to the V8 Supercar brand reaching all parts of Australasia via the Rexona brand’s new consumer promotions throughout shopping centres everywhere.”
"We are sure that our extremely loyal fans will turn out in force to make Rexona Men Power their deodorant of choice and take their chance to win a range of V8 Supercar Experiences of a Lifetime,” Cochrane finished.
Rexona has a strong sporting reputation with past associations including the Australian Cricket team (can anybody really ever forget Ricky Ponting dressed up as a can of Rexona deodorant) and will have a strong presence at this year’s rounds of the championship. The Rexona Men brand will be heavily promoted through television during Channel 7’s coverage of the races, as well as through magazines and digital media.
A new product will be launched, called Rexona Men Power, pushing the message that Rexona Men provides ‘more power than you need’ and using the sweet-smelling promotional skills of Team Vodafone driver Jamie Whincup and his Tasman Motorsport Holden rival Greg Murphy as part of the in-store activity.
“With growing audiences and passionate supporters, V8 Supercars is a great fit with Rexona Men and personifies the campaign message of More Power than you Need.” Says Sarah Ford, Marketing Manager Rexona.
As part of the promotion, Rexona Men has arranged a partnership with V8 Supercar broadcaster Channel 7 who will televise a live race at the Bathurst 1000 where spectators and fans will race purpose built ‘powered up’ shopping trolleys along Pit Straight.
That’ll definitely be something to look out for.
