Shane Price ... Sometimes Bourbon and V8 Supercars CAN mix

V8 Supercar legend Larry Perkins has taken the bull by the horns this season, signing two of the youngest drivers in the paddock for his Jack Daniels Racing Team.
The two Perkins Motorsport VE Commodores are being enthusiastically driven by the twenty year old son of Larry Perkins, Jack, who will be celebrating his coming-of-age in a couple of weeks, and Shane Price, also twenty years old and the baby of the outfit.
Proud driver of the #7 Holden Commodore, Shane Price comes from a family dedicated to its motor sport. His father, Drew, a former touring car and current karting manufacturer, helped to create a young man with petrol in his veins when Shane was born in 1986.
Like most V8 Supercar drivers these days, Price started his driving career in karts, developing into a professional and successful young driver.
A natural next step was made from karting in 2004 when Shane tried his hand at the Formula Ford open-wheelers, competing in the Victorian State Series, followed by a berth in the national series in 2005 with the works Spectrum team.
2005 was a great year for the teenager seeing young Price finishing as runner-up in his first national Formula Ford championship and being awarded the prestigious title of Rookie of the Year. Impressed with this performance, Larry Perkins jumped on the Price bandwagon and offered the young Victorian his first V8 Supercar drive in the 2006 Fujitsu Series.
Price didn’t waste any time in coming to grips with the powerful V8, scoring a podium finish in just his third race meeting and finishing the 2006 championship as runner-up to the experienced Adam Macrow. In this, Price’s first year in V8 Supercars, the Fujitsu Series rookie ended the season with two pole positions, two race wins and five consecutive round runner-up results. A very respectable result.
For this young man, just out of his teens, a drive with Perkins Motorsport must be the icing on his cake and, with many more racing years ahead of him, great things will be expected of Shane Price in the V8 Supercar series.
