Tasman Motorsport – looking forward to Oran Park
August 16th 2007 11:40
Tasman Motorsport has a previous relationship with this weekend’s track of the V8 Supercar championship, and the Melbourne based team is hoping to take advantage of their intimate knowledge of Oran Park Raceway.
And Jason Richards, after a number of outspoken outbursts before, during and after the last round at Queensland Raceway, is definitely much more positive about Tasman’s prospects at Oran Park.
"(Tasman Motorsport) used it as our test track before moving to Melbourne last year, and we believe we have a decent grasp on setup so I'm very much looking forward to this weekend," said Jason Richards.
“There's definitely not going to be any criticism of Oran Park by me - I got all that out of my system last month," Richards laughed, referring to his verbal canning of Queensland Raceway. A tirade which put him under fire from annoyed locals.
"Oran Park is totally different to Queensland, it's a terrific circuit; it's fast and flowing with a lot of medium to high speed corners and it really suits my style.”
The two Tasman drivers, Richards and Greg Murphy, have completed a day’s testing at Winton since round seven and feel confident that they are ready for anything that Oran Park can offer.
"We did a lot of laps and made some significant changes to our Commodores and I felt in the car what I had been wanting to feel all season," Murphy said.
"There's always more work to do and you can't get too carried away, but the test was really the one we'd been looking for since the beginning of the year and it's come at a good time, before Sandown and Bathurst."
A new sponsor will also be on show for the Tasman Commodores at Oran Park with the GROVE Group coming on board for round eight as part of the team’s sponsorship program. Managing Director of GROVE, Stephen Grove, is convinced that more benefits can be achieved for both parties through this sponsorship deal.
"The GROVE Group of companies is born out of a philosophy based on the highest quality workmanship, absolute integrity in all its operations and outstanding customer service," Grove said.
"Tasman Motorsport's ethos mirrors our own and we are excited to join the team for Oran Park and the V8 Supercar experience."

V8 Supercar Pitstop
Orange Grove ... matches the orange and black of Tasman's colour scheme.
Maybe that's why ...?
Hope you have a wonderful weekend too.
