With the two endurance events just around the corner for the V8 Supercars, Toll HSV have confirmed the addition of Paul Radisich to their team for Sandown and Bathurst.
The former Team Kiwi Racing driver will join with current championship title holder Rick Kelly and top of the table Garth Tander for the major races in September and October. Fellow New Zealander Craig Baird will complete the ranks for Toll HSV.
Specific partnership details are yet to be announced.
“All of the Toll HSV drivers are experienced guys, and I would be happy to drive with any of them,” he said. “It is a strong combination – one of the strongest – and I am so happy to get this opportunity so late in the season.”
Rob Crawford, Toll HSV Dealer Team manager, is also excited about picking up the experienced Radisich, “Paul and Craig Baird are both proven champions with lots of experience in V8 Supercars at Bathurst,” he said. “We know that we can just put them in the car with a job to do and they will be able to carry it out.”
Problems earlier this year saw Radisich break ties with Team Kiwi Racing in May and he is understandably thrilled to be able to join one of V8 Supercars’ premier teams for the endurance races. He recently underwent ankle surgery for an ongoing problem caused by a crash at Bathurst last year. A crash which saw him out of the competition for many months.
The Holden driver was trapped in his car after it slammed into a tyre barrier, damaging the left hand side and making the left hand door impossible to open. The car then flipped onto the right hand side, effectively trapping the veteran driver until rescue teams could free him.
Both Tander and Kelly, along with their respective partners, look set to blast the tracks at Sandown and Bathurst apart. With experience and flexibility in both endurance partnerships, Toll HSV are looking increasingly difficult to beat.
